- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup Nutella
- 1 cup chopped hazelnuts
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until well combined.
- Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth and well mixed (the batter will be thin).
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove them from the pans and allow them to cool completely on wire racks.
- Once cooled, spread a generous layer of Nutella between each layer of cake. Sprinkle chopped hazelnuts over the Nutella layer for added crunch.
- In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Spread the whipped cream over the top and sides of the cake.
- Sprinkle additional chopped hazelnuts over the top of the cake for decoration.
- Refrigerate the cake until ready to serve. Slice and indulge in the rich, chocolatey goodness!

Make sure ingredients are at room temperature for the best results. Do not skip the cooling step to ensure layers don’t slide. Feel free to adjust the amount of chopped hazelnuts based on your preference for crunchiness.
