  • Chocolate curls

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and line three 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, starting and ending with dry ingredients.
  7. Divide the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cakes to cool completely in the pans before transferring to a wire rack.
  10. For the frosting, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  11. In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth, then fold in the whipped cream.
  12. Layer the cakes, spreading frosting between layers and on the top and sides of the cake.
  13. Decorate with cream swirls, chocolate curls, and shavings.
  14. Chill the cake in the refrigerator before serving.
