- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined and smooth.
- Slowly stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin, but that’s okay!
- Gently fold in the sliced strawberries and chocolate chips.
- Divide the batter between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once the cakes have cooled, frost with your favorite chocolate or strawberry frosting and decorate with extra fresh strawberries and a drizzle of melted chocolate.
- Cut into slices and enjoy the rich chocolatey goodness with bursts of fresh strawberry flavor!
