- 1 cup mini chocolate chips
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Chocolate syrup for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Stir in boiling water (the batter will be thin).
- Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool completely.
- For the cookie dough filling, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy.
- Add vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in flour until combined, then stir in mini chocolate chips.
- For the frosting, beat the softened butter until creamy.
- Gradually add powdered sugar and mix until smooth.
- Add heavy cream and vanilla extract, and beat until light and fluffy.
- Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread half of the cookie dough filling on top.
- Add the second cake layer on top.
- Frost the top and sides of the cake with the buttercream frosting.
- Drizzle with chocolate syrup and sprinkle with extra chocolate chips or cookie dough pieces if desired.
- Cut a slice, serve, and enjoy this decadent treat!
Notes
Make sure to use heat-treated flour for safety and do not over-mix the batter for fluffy cake layers.
