- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Chocolate syrup for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Stir in boiling water (the batter will be thin).
- Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool completely.
- To prepare the cookie dough filling, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy. Add vanilla extract, then gradually mix in flour until combined, and stir in mini chocolate chips.
- For the frosting, beat the butter until creamy, gradually add powdered sugar, mixing until smooth. Add heavy cream and vanilla extract, and beat until light and fluffy.
- To assemble the cake, place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread half of the cookie dough filling on top. Add the second cake layer, frost the top and sides with the buttercream frosting, and drizzle with chocolate syrup. Sprinkle with extra chocolate chips or cookie dough pieces if desired.
- Cut a slice, serve, and enjoy this decadent treat!
Notes
Use heat-treated flour for the cookie dough filling. Let cake layers cool completely before frosting to avoid melting the frosting.
