- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 3/4 cup whole milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set this mixture aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the brewed coffee and whole milk. Start and end with the flour mixture. Mix just until combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove it from the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
Notes
Serve at room temperature or slightly warm. Pairs well with coffee or milk.
