Deliciously sweet bars combining rich chocolate chips and juicy cherries, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (1 stick)
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional)
  • 3/4 to 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup cherries, fresh or frozen

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8-by-8-inch baking pan with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray.
  2. Melt the butter in a medium microwave-safe bowl for about 60 seconds.
  3. Add the packed brown sugar to the melted butter and stir until well combined.
  4. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth.
  5. Add the flour and optional salt, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and cherries.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top.
  8. Bake for 27 to 32 minutes, until the edges are pulling away and the center is set.
  9. Allow to cool for at least 1 hour before slicing and serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week; can be frozen for up to 3 months.
