Instructions
- Prepare the chocolate cake according to the box instructions and let it cool completely.
- Cut the cooled cake into cubes.
- In a trifle dish, layer half of the chocolate cake cubes.
- Spoon half of the cherry pie filling over the cake layer, adding almond extract if desired.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining cake cubes and cherry pie filling.
