- 2 cups (260g) all-purpose flour
- 2 cups (414g) sugar
- 3/4 cup (70g) natural unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
- 1 cup (240ml) Chambord liqueur, divided
- 1 cup (240ml) vegetable oil
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup (240ml) water
- 1 cup (240ml) sweetened condensed milk
- 3/4 cup (127g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, 1/2 cup Chambord, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir until combined. Mix in water and sweetened condensed milk until smooth.
- Gently fold in chocolate chips.
- Divide the batter between prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- For Chambord syrup, combine remaining Chambord with sugar over medium heat until thickened, then brush over cooled cake layers.
- Frost and garnish the cooled cakes as desired.
Notes
Store leftover cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
