Description
Delightful bars combining rich chocolate, sweet caramel, and crunchy pecans in a buttery crust.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2/3 cup (130g) brown sugar
- 2 2/3 cups (330g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (110g) unsalted butter
- 1 cup (200g) light brown sugar
- 1/3 cup (110g) honey
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 2 cups (290g) chopped pecans
- 7 oz (200g) milk chocolate
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with kitchen foil, leaving overhang on the sides for easy removal.
- In a mixer, combine flour, salt, butter, and brown sugar. Pulse until the mixture forms crumbs. Press the mixture firmly into the pan and bake for 30 minutes, until golden.
- In a saucepan, combine butter, honey, brown sugar, and heavy cream. Stir over medium heat and simmer for about 1 minute. Add chopped pecans and stir to combine.
- Remove the baked crust from the oven. While still hot, pour the pecan caramel mixture evenly over the crust. Bake for an additional 20 minutes.
- Let the bars cool completely. Melt the chocolate in the microwave, heating in 30-second intervals and stirring until smooth. Pour the melted chocolate over the cooled bars and spread evenly.
- Allow bars to set in the fridge for about 1 hour, or in the freezer for 20 minutes. Lift out the bars using the foil and slice to the desired size.
Notes
For a sweet and salty combination, sprinkle sea salt on top of the chocolate layer.
