Ingredients

- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, vegetable oil, and milk.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.
- For the ganache, heat 1 cup heavy cream until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat and stir in 2 cups of chocolate chips until smooth.
- Once the cakes are cool, spread vanilla cream on top of one layer, place the second layer on top, and pour ganache over the top, letting it drip down the sides.
- Allow the ganache to set before serving.
Notes
Store leftover cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
