A rich, creamy frozen chocolate treat that is perfect for hot days or when you need a sweet pick-me-up.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup Dutch-processed cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved.
- Sift in the unsweetened cocoa powder and Dutch-processed cocoa powder, then add the salt and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 360 minutes or until solid.
- Before serving, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften.
- Scoop into bowls or cones and enjoy, optionally topping with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, or fresh fruit.
Notes
For the best texture, ensure cream and sugar are completely dissolved and sift cocoa powders to prevent lumps. Variations can include nuts, cookie chunks, or swirls of caramel or peanut butter.
