- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup hot coffee
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch cake pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract; mix until just combined.
- Stir in hot coffee until smooth, then divide the batter evenly into the pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cakes cool completely.
- Heat heavy cream until hot (without boiling). Pour it over the chopped chocolate and butter, stirring until smooth. Let it cool slightly until it thickens but remains pourable.
- Beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, then pour in heavy cream and vanilla extract, beating until fluffy and smooth.
- Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a generous layer of ganache on top, add the second cake layer, and frost the entire cake with the chocolate frosting.
- Drizzle the remaining ganache over the cake so it cascades beautifully down the sides.
- Cut a slice, take a bite, and indulge in pure chocolate perfection!
