- 3/4 cup (90g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup (240ml) vegetable oil
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups (360ml) heavy cream
- 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- (Optional) Whipped cream or chocolate ganache for topping
- Chocolate shavings or extra chips for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, cocoa powder, and vegetable oil.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
- Gently fold in all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few fudgy crumbs.
- In a saucepan, heat heavy cream with unsalted butter until it just begins to simmer.
- Stir in semi-sweet chocolate chips until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
- Once the cake cools slightly, drizzle or spread the warm chocolate mixture over the top.
- Garnish with chocolate shavings or extra chips. Optionally add whipped cream or ganache.
Notes
Use good quality chocolate chips for the ganache and avoid overmixing to keep the cake fudgy. Add nuts or swirl in peanut butter for variations.
