Description

Delicious and crispy Chicken Fried Steak Fingers are a fun twist on a classic Southern dish, perfect for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb cube steak, cut into strips
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup crushed saltine crackers
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • Chopped parsley (for garnish)
  • Optional: ranch or country gravy for dipping

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and egg. Add the steak strips and let them marinate for 30 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix the flour, crushed saltine crackers, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Take the marinated steak strips and dredge them in the flour mixture, pressing to coat well.
  5. Fry the strips in the hot oil for 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Once cooked, drain the fingers on paper towels, sprinkle with parsley, and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce!

Notes

Ensure your oil is hot enough before frying for perfect crispiness. Marinate the steak for extra tenderness. Press the flour mixture well for a thick coating.
