Description

Delicious Chicken Alfredo served in crispy sourdough bread bowls, perfect for a cozy dinner.


Ingredients

  • 4 small sourdough bread boules or large dinner rolls
  • 2 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded or cubed
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut the tops off the bread boules and hollow out the centers, leaving a thick shell. Place them on a baking sheet.
  3. In a small bowl, mix olive oil and garlic powder. Brush the insides of the bread bowls with this mixture.
  4. Bake for 10 minutes, or until the bread is golden and slightly crispy.
  5. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  6. Whisk in the flour and cook for another minute.
  7. Slowly add heavy cream and milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
  8. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then stir in Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook until the sauce thickens.
  9. Stir in the cooked chicken and half of the mozzarella cheese. Let it simmer for 2 minutes until the cheese melts.
  10. Spoon the creamy chicken Alfredo mixture into the toasted bread bowls.
  11. Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  12. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.

Notes

Use rotisserie chicken to save time. You can also add extra veggies like spinach or mushrooms for more flavor.
