Cherry Pie Monkey Bread is a fun and delicious twist on traditional monkey bread, combining soft dough with sweet cherry pie filling—perfect for breakfast or dessert.

- 1 (0.25oz) package (7g) Red Star Active Dry Yeast
- 2/3 cup warm water (110-115°F)
- 4 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

- 1 teaspoon table salt
- 2/3 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 (21oz) can cherry pie filling
- 1/4 cup graham cracker crumbs
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for filling)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (for filling)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
- 4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
- 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice (for icing)
Instructions
- Dissolve 1 tablespoon of sugar and yeast in warm water. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Mix 3 cups of flour, dry milk powder, and salt in a large bowl. Add the milk, melted butter, egg, and yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 10 minutes or 5 minutes in a stand mixer until smooth and slightly sticky. Add more flour as needed.
- Shape the dough into a ball, place it in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 1 to 1 1/4 hours until doubled in size.
- Mix graham cracker crumbs and sugar for the filling. Dip each dough ball into melted butter, then coat them in the graham cracker-sugar mixture.
- Layer the dough balls in a greased Bundt pan, spoon half of the cherry pie filling, then layer more dough balls and the remaining cherry pie filling.
- Cover and let the dough rise for another 45 minutes until nearly doubled.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and bubbly. Cool for 10 minutes, then invert onto a plate.
- Beat icing ingredients until smooth. Drizzle it over the warm bread and enjoy!
Notes
Serve warm, great with coffee or milk. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
