A delightful dessert that combines sweet, juicy cherries with a crunchy topping, perfect for any time of the year.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup spelt flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Vanilla ice cream (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the pitted cherries, half of the brown sugar, and cinnamon. Spread the cherry mixture evenly in a baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, mix the spelt flour, rolled oats, remaining brown sugar, melted butter, and salt until crumbly.
  4. Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the cherries in the baking dish.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes, or until the crumble is golden and the cherries are bubbly.
  6. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Make sure to pit the cherries well. You can use frozen cherries if fresh ones are not available; just thaw and drain them.
