- 1 cup mini chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup grated chocolate (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Bake the chocolate cake as per the instructions on the box or your recipe.
- Let the cake cool completely, then crumble it into bite-sized pieces.
- In a bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- Stir almond extract into the cherry pie filling (optional) to enhance its flavor.
- In a trifle dish or individual cups, layer the ingredients in the following order: crumbled chocolate cake, cherry pie filling, whipped cream, and mini chocolate chips.
- Repeat these layers until the dish is full.
- Top the trifle with a final layer of whipped cream.
- Sprinkle grated chocolate and mini chocolate chips on top for garnish.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld. Serve chilled.
