  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup grated chocolate (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Bake the chocolate cake as per the instructions on the box or your recipe.
  2. Let the cake cool completely, then crumble it into bite-sized pieces.
  3. In a bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  4. Stir almond extract into the cherry pie filling (optional) to enhance its flavor.
  5. In a trifle dish or individual cups, layer the ingredients in the following order: crumbled chocolate cake, cherry pie filling, whipped cream, and mini chocolate chips.
  6. Repeat these layers until the dish is full.
  7. Top the trifle with a final layer of whipped cream.
  8. Sprinkle grated chocolate and mini chocolate chips on top for garnish.
  9. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld. Serve chilled.
