A delightful layered dessert combining chocolate cake, sweet cherries, and creamy whipped topping, perfect for any occasion.

- 1 box of chocolate cake mix (or homemade chocolate cake)
- 2 cups (480ml) heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup (175g) mini chocolate chips
- 1 can (21 oz/595g) cherry pie filling or 2 cups fresh cherries
- 2 tbsp cherry liqueur or juice (optional)
- Shaved chocolate or chocolate curls for garnish
- Fresh cherries for garnish
Instructions
- Bake the chocolate cake according to package instructions. Let it cool completely, then cut it into cubes.
- In a chilled mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Gently fold in the mini chocolate chips and refrigerate.
- In a large trifle bowl or individual glasses, layer chocolate cake cubes, cherry pie filling or fresh cherries, and whipped cream with chocolate chips. Repeat the layers until filled, finishing with whipped cream on top.
- Sprinkle shaved chocolate or chocolate curls over the top and add fresh cherries for garnish.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
For added flavor, consider adding cherry liqueur to the cherries before layering. Use chilled mixing bowls for better whipped cream consistency.
