Description
A delicious twist on classic Sloppy Joes with savory ground beef, rich melted cheese, and flavorful sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 small onion, finely diced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 3/4 cup tomato sauce or ketchup
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 slices provolone cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 tbsp butter, melted
- Fresh chopped parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the onion in a little oil until soft.
- Add the garlic and ground beef, cooking until browned. Drain the fat.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, tomato paste, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
- Mix in the chopped cheddar and provolone cheese until melted and well combined with the meat.
- Toast the hamburger buns if you like. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto the bottom halves, and add more cheese if desired. Close with the top buns.
- Brush the top buns with melted butter and sprinkle with fresh parsley. Serve hot!
Notes
For extra flavor, try adding some chopped bell peppers or jalapeños when cooking the meat. Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a healthier option.
