- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp fresh thyme or parsley, chopped
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, garlic powder, black pepper, and herbs.
- Gently fold in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- In another bowl, whisk the buttermilk, eggs, and melted butter until blended.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix!
- Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan and bake for 45–50 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the center.
- Let the bread cool for 10 minutes in the pan before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing. Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread tender.
