Description
A rich and creamy caramel frosting perfect for cakes, cupcakes, and brownies.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 to 3 cups powdered sugar (adjust as needed for consistency)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, add the brown sugar and stir constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Slowly add the milk to the saucepan, stirring continuously. Increase the heat to medium and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
- Allow the mixture to boil for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the caramel mixture cool slightly.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing well after each addition until the desired thickness is reached.
- Stir in the vanilla extract if using.
- Use immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or other desserts.
Notes
Stir continuously while cooking to prevent burning. If too thick, add a splash more milk. Let it cool slightly before adding powdered sugar for a smoother frosting.
