Description

A rich and creamy caramel frosting perfect for cakes, cupcakes, and brownies.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 to 3 cups powdered sugar (adjust as needed for consistency)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, add the brown sugar and stir constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  2. Slowly add the milk to the saucepan, stirring continuously. Increase the heat to medium and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  3. Allow the mixture to boil for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the caramel mixture cool slightly.
  5. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing well after each addition until the desired thickness is reached.
  6. Stir in the vanilla extract if using.
  7. Use immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or other desserts.

Notes

Stir continuously while cooking to prevent burning. If too thick, add a splash more milk. Let it cool slightly before adding powdered sugar for a smoother frosting.
