Description

A sweet and creamy caramel frosting that adds a delicious flavor to any dessert.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 to 3 cups powdered sugar (as needed for consistency)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat.
  2. Add the brown sugar and stir constantly until dissolved.
  3. Slowly add the milk while stirring continuously.
  4. Increase heat to medium and bring to a gentle boil.
  5. Allow to boil for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  6. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  7. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing well after each addition until desired consistency is reached.
  8. Stir in vanilla extract if using.
  9. Use immediately to frost cakes or cupcakes.

Notes

Store any leftover frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Warm it up slightly before using.
