Description

A delicious layered treat combining sweet flavors of caramel and apple, perfect for gatherings and special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 pounds Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and chopped into 1” pieces
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 12 tablespoons all-purpose flour (optional, for thickening)
  • 2 small boxes (3.4 ounces each) vanilla instant pudding
  • 3 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 8 ounces Cool Whip, thawed
  • 21 whole cinnamon graham crackers
  • 16 ounces caramel apple dip

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the apples, sugar, and cinnamon over medium-low heat. Cook and stir until the apples are tender, about 10-15 minutes. If the mixture is too juicy, sprinkle 1-2 tablespoons of flour over the apples and stir until thickened. Let the apples cool to room temperature.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix and milk until smooth. Stir in the sour cream and Cool Whip until fully combined.
  3. Assemble the layers by layering 7 cinnamon graham crackers at the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking pan. Spread half of the apple mixture over the crackers.
  4. Spoon half of the pudding mixture over the apples, then add another layer of graham crackers on top of the pudding.
  5. Spread the remaining apples over the graham crackers, then spoon the remaining pudding mix over the apples.
  6. Add one last layer of graham crackers on top.
  7. Heat the caramel apple dip in the microwave for 30 seconds, stir, then heat for an additional 20-30 seconds until softened. Spread the softened caramel evenly over the top layer of graham crackers.
  8. Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight to allow the layers to set. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

For extra crunch and flavor, sprinkle chopped nuts over the caramel layer before chilling. Make sure to cool the cooked apples completely before layering to prevent sogginess.
