Description

A delightful fall dessert featuring layers of rich blondies, sweet apples, and creamy cheesecake, drizzled with caramel.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 5 1/4 cups diced apples (about 4 large apples)
  • 6 tbsp light brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • Splash of lemon juice
  • 6 tbsp water
  • 16 oz cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups caramel sauce
  • 2 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream, cold
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (plus more for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (176°C). Line a 9×13 pan with parchment paper. Melt the butter and whisk with brown sugar, vanilla, and eggs until combined.
  2. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Mix this dry blend with the wet ingredients. Bake for 18-20 minutes, then let it cool before cutting it into pieces.
  3. For the apple filling, combine diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and water in a saucepan. Cook until the apples are tender, about 15-20 minutes. Let this mixture cool.
  4. To prepare the caramel cheesecake filling, beat the cream cheese and brown sugar together until smooth. Mix in the vanilla and caramel sauce. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream until soft peaks form and then fold it into the cream cheese mixture.
  5. In a trifle dish, layer pieces of blondies, cooked apples, and cheesecake filling. Drizzle caramel sauce between the layers.
  6. For the final touch, whip another heavy cream batch with powdered sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla until peaks form. Top the trifle with this whipped cream and refrigerate for a few hours before serving.

Notes

Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for the best flavor and texture. Store any leftover trifle in the refrigerator and consume within a few days.
