Ingredients

  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted
  • For the Butter Pecan Glaze:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Additional chopped pecans for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, mix the melted butter, buttermilk, egg, and vanilla extract until combined.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, folding in the toasted pecans gently.
  5. Fill the donut pan with the batter and bake for 10-12 minutes or until they are golden brown.
  6. For the glaze, melt the butter in a small saucepan, and then add brown sugar and cream. Stir in vanilla and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  7. Dip the cooled donuts into the glaze and add more pecans on top if desired.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Make sure your butter is melted and cooled before adding it to avoid cooking the egg. Toasting the pecans enhances their flavor.
