Description
Delicious and versatile homemade buns made with a yeast method for soft and fluffy results.
Ingredients
Scale
- 500g (4 cups) all-purpose flour
- 7g (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg (for brushing, optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Pour in the yeast mixture, milk, and melted butter. Mix to form a dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball and place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- Cover the buns with a towel and let rise for another 30–45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Brush the tops of the buns with beaten egg, if using. Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serve fresh out of the oven or store for later!
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding herbs, cheese, or spices to the dough. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature or freeze for up to 3 months.
