Description

A delicious dessert that combines a rich, fudgy brownie layer with a soft, chewy cookie layer on top.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix the melted butter, 1 cup of granulated sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Add the eggs and whisk until smooth.
  3. Stir in the flour, cocoa powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt until just combined.
  4. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  5. In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter with the 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and 1/2 cup of brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  6. Add the egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, then mix until smooth.
  7. Stir in the 1 1/2 cups of flour, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
  8. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  9. Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough over the brownie batter and spread them evenly to cover the brownie layer.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cookie layer is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean.
  11. Allow the brookie to cool completely in the pan before slicing it into squares.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature. Store leftover brownies in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
