Description
A delightful dessert combining rich brioche bread and juicy blueberries, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a sweet treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups brioche bread, cubed (preferably day-old)
- 1 1/2 cups fresh blueberries
- 4 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp lemon zest (optional)
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
- Butter, for greasing
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly butter a 2-quart baking dish.
- Spread half of the brioche cubes in the dish. Sprinkle with half the blueberries. Repeat with remaining brioche and blueberries.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, and lemon zest. Pour evenly over the bread mixture, pressing gently to soak.
- Let the dish sit for 15–20 minutes so the bread absorbs the custard.
- Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, until puffed and golden.
- Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
