Description

A delightful dessert that combines rich tiramisu flavors with fresh berries, layered for a visually appealing treat.


Ingredients

  • 6 oz lady fingers
  • 1/2 lb blueberries
  • 1 lb blackberries
  • 1 lb mascarpone cheese
  • 4 organic free-range egg yolks
  • 5 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 4 tbsp honey + more to taste
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp water
  • Basil leaves for garnish
  • Lilac flowers for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Berry Sauce: In a small saucepan, combine blackberries, blueberries, lemon juice, vanilla extract, honey, and water. Simmer until blueberries pop, then cool and strain.
  2. Whip the Cream: Whip heavy cream with 1 tbsp granulated sugar until stiff peaks form, then refrigerate.
  3. Make the Mascarpone Mixture: Beat egg yolks and remaining sugar, then mix in mascarpone cheese until blended.
  4. Combine the Creams: Fold whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture and divide into two bowls.
  5. Mix in the Berries: Fold berry sauce solids into one bowl of the mascarpone mixture.
  6. Assemble the Trifle: Layer ladyfingers dipped in berry sauce, followed by berry mascarpone, and plain mascarpone. Repeat layers until ingredients are used up.
  7. Chill: Refrigerate for a couple of hours or until set.
  8. Serve: Serve chilled, garnished with blackberries, basil leaves, and lilac flowers if available.

Notes

Use fresh, ripe berries for the best flavor. The dessert can be made a day in advance.
