Description

A quick and easy beef and broccoli lo mein dish that brings classic Chinese takeout flavors to your kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 8 oz lo mein noodles (or spaghetti)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the lo mein noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the beef slices and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the broccoli and onion. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they begin to soften.
  5. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and ground ginger (if using).
  7. Return the cooked beef to the skillet along with the sauce mixture. Stir well to coat everything in the sauce and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  8. Add the cooked noodles to the skillet, tossing to combine everything evenly.
  9. Serve the beef and broccoli lo mein hot, garnished with chopped green onions.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding more vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas.
