Description
A delightful dessert that combines the flavors of a classic banana split into a moist, chocolatey cake topped with whipped cream, fresh bananas, and rich chocolate ganache.

- 1 cup Buttermilk

- 2 Ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup Powdered sugar
- 1 cup Heavy cream (for filling)
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract (for filling)
- 1/2 cup Heavy cream (for ganache)
- 1 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Sliced bananas
- 1 cup Whipped cream (for topping)
- Chocolate chips (for topping)
- Crushed nuts (for topping)
- Maraschino cherries (for topping)
- Chocolate shavings (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line three 8-inch round pans with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract, and beat until smooth.
- Gradually mix in hot water until well combined. Divide the batter among the prepared pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool completely.
- In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold in the mashed bananas, powdered sugar, and vanilla until well combined.
- Heat 1/2 cup of heavy cream in a saucepan until it simmers. Pour it over the chocolate chips and let it sit for 2 minutes. Stir until smooth.
- On a serving plate, place one cake layer and spread banana cream filling over the top. Repeat with the second layer.
- Place the final cake layer on top and pour ganache over, allowing it to drip down the sides.
- Top the cake with whipped cream, sliced bananas, maraschino cherries, chocolate chips, crushed nuts, and chocolate shavings.
- Serve slightly chilled for the best taste.
Notes
Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature for a smoother batter. You can freeze the cake layers individually wrapped and assemble when ready to serve.
