Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup milk (or any non-dairy milk)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chunks (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth.
  3. Add the melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking soda, and cocoa powder.
  5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Pour in the milk and stir until smooth.
  7. If desired, fold in the chocolate chips or chopped nuts.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Let cool for about 10 minutes in the pan before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Slice into squares and enjoy!

Notes

Ensure bananas are really ripe for the best flavor. Don’t overmix the batter to keep brownies soft.
