- Your favorite chocolate cake recipe (or store-bought cake layers)
- 24 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup Bailey’s Irish Cream
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 pint heavy whipping cream
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
Instructions
- Prepare the cake layers: Bake and cool two layers of your favorite chocolate cake.
- Make the chocolate cheesecake layer: Beat the cream cheese and sugar together until smooth. Add flour, sour cream, eggs, vanilla extract, and Bailey’s Irish Cream, mixing well.
- Assemble the trifle: Place one cake layer in a trifle bowl. Spread with the chocolate cheesecake layer and top with the second cake layer.
- Freeze: Freeze the trifle for at least 240 minutes, or overnight.
- Make the chocolate ganache: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and heavy cream together in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
- Drizzle the ganache: Drizzle the chocolate ganache over the frozen trifle.
- Top with whipped cream: Beat the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Spread the whipped cream on top of the trifle.
