Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups whipped topping or whipped cream
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate pudding (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup chopped dark chocolate or chocolate chunks
  • Fresh raspberries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine chocolate cookie crumbs and melted butter until well mixed. Set aside.
  2. In another bowl, beat softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Fold in 1 cup of the whipped topping.
  3. In a trifle dish, layer cookie crumbs at the bottom, then spread a layer of the cream cheese mixture, followed by a layer of chocolate pudding. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
  4. Finish with a layer of whipped topping. Sprinkle chopped dark chocolate on top and garnish with fresh raspberries, if desired.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

To make a lighter version, use light cream cheese and reduced-fat whipped topping. You can also make this trifle a day ahead for enhanced flavor.
