- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup apple pie filling, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the cold, cubed butter. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the buttermilk until just combined (do not overmix).
- Gently fold in the chopped apple pie filling, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Gently pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle.
- Use a round cutter to cut out biscuits. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Mix the granulated sugar and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Sprinkle over the tops of the biscuits.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For best results, keep butter cold and do not overmix the dough.
